Bakong Temple

A beautiful temple of the ninth century often forgotten. It was built by the rulers of the Khmer Empire and, for some time, used as an official state temple by King Indravarman I.
The architecture of this temple shows a cultural exchange between the Khmer kingdom and the Java kingdom, as the Bakong is very similar to the Borobudur, a temple in Java.
Admire the detailed carvings on the bas-relief. You will find inspiration to take lots of photos around the temple.
